UNIFORMS OF
THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

Considered to be one of the best regiments of the Brunswick contingent, it consisted of 5 companies, each commanded by a captain.  The regiment was unique in not having the uniform coat fashioned with facing color lapels.  German regiments were traditionally named after their honorary colonel-in-chief, the "Inhaber" or "Possessor", normally a Prince or general officer.  The Regiment left Brunswick as part of the 1st Division on 22nd February, 1776, finally reaching Quebec on the 1st June of that year.  During the Saratoga Campaign they were garrisoned at Fort Ticonderoga.
