Attendees are encouraged to plan a vacation around the Triennial Meeting, and arrive one or more days before the opening of the meeting on Thursday, and/or stay beyond its close on Sunday, September 27.
Optional activities for those not attending triennial business sessions are too numerous to list, and no doubt many will plan their own day individually. Whether it is culture or the sights, there is something for everyone in Los Angeles. The following are possibilities:
SIGHTSEEING

Visible for miles atop its serene Mt. Lee perch, the Hollywood Sign is probably the most photographed celebrity in Hollywood - a mecca for millions of fan and tourists who flock to take its picture each year.

Another a tourist destination is the Hollywood & Highland and Kodak Theatre complex, a local hot spot where a highly successful mix of shopping, dining and glamour comes alive.
The designers of the Hollywood & Highland center -- home of world-class restaurants, shops and, most famously, the Academy Awards --made it a point to feature the distant Sign as the centerpiece of their architectural composition. The result is that Sign “photo ops” abound throughout the facility. Hollywood & Highland (as you probably surmised) is located on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue.

The El Capitan Theatre debuted on May 3, 1926, as “Hollywood’s First Home of Spoken Drama”. Built as a legitimate theater, this treasure was restored to its former glory and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Inside the theater, visitors will experience a restored Wurlitzer Pipe Organ.
Grauman's Chinese Theater

The grand opening of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on May 18, 1927, was the most spectacular theatre opening in motion picture history. Grauman’s Chinese Theatre is the most sought-after theatre in Hollywood for studio premieres. Fans flock to these events to see the celebrities arrive and walk up the red carpet into the theatre.

Rich in movie tradition, with its cement handprints and footprints in the forecourt, the Chinese Theatre immortalizes the brightest stars. More than four-million visitors from all over the world visit Grauman’s every year.
Egyptian Theater
The famous Egyptian Theatre is located nearly.
Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Walk of Fame consists of the famous “stars” in the sidewalk.
The walk is along Hollywood Boulevard from Gower Street to La Brea Avenue, and on Vine Street from Yucca Street to Sunset Boulevard.
Made of pink terrazzo and brass, the Hollywood Walk of Fame stars commemorate famous individuals in television, radio, film, music and drama. An icon set into the star denotes the category the person is being honored in, and a few people get more than one star.

Cowboy and singer Gene Autry earned fame and the most stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, with one in each category.
Many visitors are content to walk down the sidewalks calling each other's attention to names of fame that they recognize, but if you want to seek out and photograph the stars of your favorite stars, you'll save a lot of time if you're prepared.
