2015 George Washington Open House

American Heritage Library and Museum -- Feb 16, 2015

About one hundred people gathered at the American Heritage Library and Museum on President's Day (Feb 16, 2015)
to celebrate the 283rd anniversary of the birth of George Washington.
Celebrating its 122nd Anniversary, the American Heritage Library and Museum
is a patriotic project of the Sons of the Revolution in the State of California.

Those assembled were greeted by Douglas R. Boyd, Sr., President of the
Sons of the Revolution in the State of California.

An interesting highlight was Donna Mac Donald's introduction of her freshly baked Cookies of the Presidents,
a selection of favorites of American Presidents on this President's Day,
and an interpretative performance by Wayne J. Rogers.

Among the Presidents Emeritus present were Paul W. Gray and John R. Justice, below,
as well as Richard H. Breithaupt, Jr. amd Charles B. Witt, Jr.

Dr. Gary K. Clark, D.Min., spoke about the programs of the Library and Museum
and appealed to those assembled for financial support.

President Emeritus Richard Breithaupt, Jr., a fifth great-grandson
of Philadelphia clockmaker Thomas Stretch (1697-1765),
founding governor of The Schuylkill Fishing Company,
spoke about its famed Fish House Punch.

Founded in 1732 and today the oldest social club in the English-speaking world,
the Club's Fish House Punch was George Washington's favorite drink,
and Mr. Breithaupt brought a fresh batch for all to taste.

After Washington partook of Fish House punch at Philadelphia’s State in Schuylkill,
it is said he couldn’t bring himself to make an entry in his diary for the following three days.
