2014 George Washington Open House

American Heritage Library and Museum -- Feb 17, 2014

About one hundred people gathered at the American Heritage Library and Museum on President's Day (Feb 17, 2014)
to celebrate the 282nd anniversary of the birth of George Washington.
Celebrating its 121st Anniversary, the American Heritage Library and Museum
is a patriotic project of the Sons of the Revolution in the State of California.

Those assembled were greeted by Douglas R. Boyd, Sr., President of the
Sons of the Revolution in the State of California.

Highlights of the afternoon included a talk by the Hon. Uriel Machias, speaking about his military service in Afghanistan, 2013-2014,
and an interpretatived performance by veteran docent and reenactor Steve Clugston portraying George Washington.

President Emeritus Richard Breithaupt, Jr., a fifth great-grandson
of Philadelphia clockmaker Thomas Stretch (1697-1765),
founding governor of the The Schuylkill Fishing Company,
shared with those assembled the day he experienced with the Club
as an honored guest at its "Opening Day" some years ago.

Founded in 1732, it is the oldest social club in the English-speaking world.
The Club's Fish House Punch was George Washington's favorite drink,
and Mr. Breithaupt brought a fresh batch for all to taste.

The pleasant affair was capped off with a serving of Fish House punch, a favorite drink of George Washington.
